PRODUCTION NOTES:
Upon reviewing the script for “Traffic School”, gaffer Tom Kledzinski said to director Matt Wechsler in astonishment, “You want to shoot this in one day?” The task seemed almost impossible, but Wechsler felt differently. “Yes,” he answered. Then came the line from Kledzinski that Wechsler had heard so many times, “Looks like we have a lot of work ahead of us.”
With a mere budget of $8,000, conflicting actor’s schedules, location issues, a 22-page script and winter on the horizon, it was essential to complete production in one day. The daunting task seemed overwhelming, but at 1:30am on November 17, 2008, the 18-hour production day came to a close with a mixture of relief and excitement. “It wouldn’t have been possible without the tedious preparation from our cast and crew,” Wechsler recalls. “We blew a couple fuses, got locked out of rooms, and had actors bail on us, but we still managed to get it all done . . . and have some fun.”
